1938: Kristallnacht  
On November 9, 1938 Nazi Storm Troopers attacked and destroyed synagogues and Jewish-owned shops throughout Germany, assaulting and murdering Jews and then sending them to concentration camps. They were the most serious anti-Jewish attacks since the Nazis assumed power in Germany in January 1933.
