The Polish-Austrian writer’s texts are among the few authentic reports of children who survived the Nazi’s reign of terror. In 1939, she fled from the German army to the Warsaw ghetto and she was the only member of her close family to flee from there as well in 1943. She began to record her memories in 1962 and wrote a three-volume autobiography: (“A Square of Sky”, “A Touch of Earth” and “Light over the Water”).
