Grace Patricia Kelly, Princess of Monaco and actress was born on this day in 1929. After studying at the American Academy for Dramatic Art in New York, Kelly worked as a model and a small-time television actress. In 1949 she was discovered by Hollywood during her performance in a Broadway production of Strindberg’s "Father". After starring in “High Noon” alongside Gary Cooper, she was cast in classics such as "Dial M for Murder" (1954) and "High Society" (1956). The peak of her acting career was her performance in “The Country Girl", for which she won an Oscar in 1954. Kelly gave up her acting career after her marriage to Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956.
