German poet, actor and author. He broke off a degree in law to work as a journalist in 1885. He was accused of causing royal offence and went to Switzerland to escape the law, where he was caught and sentenced to six monthsÂ’ imprisonment. WedekindÂ’s literary works contradicted traditional moral values.
