| 25.6.1530: Confessio Augustana – the Augsburg confession |
 |
| Protestant theologian Melanchthon presented the first confession, or document of beliefs of the Church Reformation to the Congress at Augsburg called by the German Emperor. It had been formulated with concessions to both the Catholic and the non-Lutheran Protestant groups. It was rejected by the Roman Catholic Church and by Zwingli’s followers, but put the foundations of the Lutheran Church in place. |
